I was very saddened to hear of the death of Paul Hester, drummer for the legendary NZ/Australian band Crowded House. He always came across as a very charismatic and witty man, and his suicide leaves a big hole in the Australian music scene.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends in this very traumatic time.
Brett McBean (a good friend of mine) wrote a great horror book a few years back called The Last Motel. Recently it has made it on to the Amazon website for sale. And they have finally got the artwork up now as well!
Check it out here. Well done, Brett. I hope that McBean will soon be mentioned in the same sentence as King and Laymon by horror critics.
Even if you aren't a fan of John Lennon (or the Beatles), you should still be able to appreciate this brilliant article on him. I think it really summarises everything that is wrong with popular music today. And by this, I mean the crap which generally dominates the album charts.
